A Cozy Chat with Abigail Alverez -Podcast Manager & Content Repurposing Specialist
I talked to Abigail Alvarez – a podcast manager and content repurposing specialist – and together we explored the world of podcasting, discussing its anti-capitalistic nature, the importance of community, and strategies for content creation and SEO.
She also shares her personal experiences as a chronically ill entrepreneur and emphasizes the flexibility and adaptability of podcasting as a medium.
We covered practical tips for starting a podcast, including hosting options, marketing strategies, and the significance of finding the right guests. Overall, the conversation highlights the empowering aspects of podcasting and the importance of creating a supportive community.
Why Choose Podcasting as a chronically ill entrepreneur
Podcasting is inherently anti-capitalistic
Because it allows you to build connections, strengthen community, and share business expertise for free, helping to fight against exploitative systems.
There are zero rules for starting and running a podcast.
You can alternate between guest and solo episodes, release weekly or whenever you edit, and the content remains evergreen and sustainable, unlike platforms governed by constantly changing algorithms.
Podcasting is a very doable, entry-level, and sustainable content option
That is adaptable to chronic illness and low-energy days. You can start a podcast in less than an hour. A single 30-minute podcast episode can be repurposed into a week’s worth of material across multiple platforms.
How to Re-purpose Your Podcasts
You can repurpose the content into:
- short clips (reels, YouTube shorts, Pinterest).
- At least one text carousel.
- A blog post using the transcript. (or vice versa!)
- Email content for your list.
How to Optimize Your Podcast for Search Engines
Title Framing –
Frame your episode titles using key search terms that people are actually searching for, such as “How to Start a Podcast”.
Use Show Notes as a Mini-Blog –
Pack your show notes full of keywords—primary, secondary, and overall meta keywords—to act as an extra SEO bonus.
Keyword Research –
To find the right keywords, search for podcasts similar to yours in your niche and see what terms appear on the first couple of pages of Google.
Hosting Tags –
Hosting services like Libsyn offer in-house tags where you can insert your key search terms to help differentiate and categorize your catalogue.

Recommended Editing/Recording Software:
Riverside
(approx. $32/month USD) is recommended for interviews and generates clips well.
Descript
(half the cost of Riverside) It is highly accessible and preferred for audio-only podcasts and niche editing. It can pull audio and video clips, but interviews should be recorded through Zoom or Google Meet and then uploaded.
Avoid Audacity –
Do not try to edit in Audacity unless you are already familiar with music production software like GarageBand, as it has a steep learning curve.
Hosting and Distribution
You can switch your RSS feed origin to a hosting software to list your podcast in up to 12 directories.
- Libsyn is the most user-friendly option recommended for its ease of use.
- Podbean is an introductory option, costing around $9 a month for a basic plan.
Tips for Managing Overwhelm and Guest Booking
Schedule by Energy – Match your business schedule to your energy levels, not what you think you “should” be doing.
Prevent Interview Backlogs – Do not overbook guest interviews. The concrete recommendation is to book no more than one interview per week (maximum four per month) to protect against burnout and an overwhelming content backlog.
Keep Your Promise – Set a specific time on your calendar to work on your podcast and keep that promise to yourself. If chronic illness or life events interfere, set a “version two” backup time.

Finding Guests
People want to be on your podcast. Find them through:
- Shout-outs on social media (like Threads). Be specific about who you are looking for and use instructions to vet applications.
- PodMatch is a paid matchmaking platform for hosts and guests, which also offers a free profile option.
